Race Report
19 IMCA Mods signed in at
So-Cal Speedway for the fourth race of their
winter series.
Obertello racing was eager to get the day
going after a very successful first time visit
to the track on Saturday.
Andy talked to Lance Mari of MRT Race
Cars and came up with a few chassis changes to
do to make the car better.
The car was better, however
once again a bad pill draw for the main event
relegated Andy to a 13th starting
spot for the main event. The track was a little
tackier than Saturday but Andy thought it would
dry out by mid-race.
After a couple of restarts, Andy started
his normal move to the front and after a few
laps gave the crew the thumbs up telling them
that the car was good and all he needed was a
bit of luck to get to the front.
After a caution plagued
beginning of the race the drivers settled down
and put on a good show for the fans in
attendance.
Andy was able to take the MRT Race Cars,
Little Darlins, Con Fab Corp, Carcerano
Performance, Jennstar Motorsports, Snap-on
Tools, Pacific Coast Battery IMCA Modified to a
fine fifth place finish.
Special thanks go out to
the staff and crew at So-Cal Speedway for their
tireless work putting on this Wonderful Winter
Series. We plan to return toward the end of the
month for another weekend of great racing.
Thanks go out to
Andrew, Jenn, Don, Ross, and of course
Mom for the help and support this weekend.

Race Report
Obertello Racing’s first
race of the year was this past Saturday at the
So-Cal Speedway (formally Victorville Speedway).
A rare
afternoon race program proved a little
challenging for the track crew to prepare the
racing surface but with a lot of hard work on
their part the track was in great shape by main
event time.
The winter series line up procedure is a little
strange and the heat races amount to nothing
more than controlled hot lap sessions with the
top five of each heat redrawing for the main
event starting positions…oh well?
Anyway starting in 11th place Andy was able make
his way to second with about 9 laps to go out of
30. Andy challenge eventual
Winner Ryan Cotrell but was never able to finish
the pass. A great finish for the fist visit to
the track.
As always Special Thanks go
out to all the crew and Sponsors…
Little Darlins Child Care, Con Fab Corp, Pacific
Coast Battery, Hogge Racing Shocks, Snap-On
Tools, Jennstar Motorsports, Carcerano
Performance and Uncle Hal and Auntie Sue…..
01/25/11
A long overdue Thank You
to all of our sponsors and friends who helped
out in 2010.
Eric and Davene Oldes of
Little Darlins Child Care. Their unlimited
support both financially and emotionally are
greatly appreciated and can never be
repaid…Thank You!
Brian Atwater of ConFab,
his mid-season addition to the sponsor roster
was very helpful and without saying, greatly
appreciated as well. We look forward to another
exciting year with ConFab on board!
Pacific Coast Battery,
Snap-On Tools, Jennstar Motorsports, Hogge
Racing Shocks and Matt’s Performance make it a
little easier to get to the track, their help
can not be measured.
We also would like to
Welcome and thank Lance Mari of MRT Racing
Chassis for his support of our Modified Racing
program. It should be a fun and exciting year
helping to develop the new car.
And ……THE BEST crew you
can ask for
Dave,
Matt, Brandon, Rick, Carly, Jenn, and Mom (who
keeps everybody in line)
Thanks!

My apologies to our fans
and frequent visitors to the Obertello Racing
Website, I have extremely busy and just have not
had the time….
Our last race of the year has always been the IMCA “Duel in the Desert” at
the Las Vegas Dirt Track this year was to be no
different.
Over 220 cars signed
in for the three day event and Andy and team
were confident that the new MRT modified would
be good to go…After going through the mandatory
tech process we hit the track for hot laps. Andy
showed good speed and the car looked close on
setup and only a few minor adjustments were
needed. The motor seemed strong and all arrows
pointed to a good weekend. UNTIL….three laps
into the qualifying heat the motor blew ending
the night and really putting the team behind.
The team then went to work switching out the
motor and started to prepare for the next day
events.
Friday, Andy was able to finish a strong second in his heat race to get a
nice starting place in that nights main, having
to finish in the top two positions he was only
able to manage a fourth place finish.
Saturday’s last chance race as exciting but Andy was only able to garner a
third place finish having to win to get in our
weekend was over.
All in all the weekend was a success, save for the blown motor the car was
flawless and we look forward to 2011 and what
the racing season has to offer.
2010 News
11/12/10
Race
report from 10/8/10
Night One Bud Nationals at
Bakersfield Speedway
30 Super Late Models signed
in for the first of two nights of racing at the
third mile oval in Oildale, CA.
Andy pulled a middle of the
group number for qualifying and timed in 14th
over all. There were four heat races with the top
two finishers transferring to the main event. Andy
starting 7the in the third heat he was only able
to move op a few spots and missed the transfer
putting him in the first of two B mains.
Lining up sixth out of eight
cars he need to finish in the top four to make it
in the nights main event, moving through traffic
running in third position another competitor lost
control and spun in front of Andy and with no
where to go there was major contact. With quick
work from the crew he was able to get back on the
track without losing a lap and managed a fourth
place finish transferring into the main event.
After a wild thrash to fix
the car for the main event, Andy came in after
parade lap and said he had lost power steering,
after a quick check the crew sent him back out
with no power steering. He was only able to finish
11 laps before pulling into the infield to save
the car for the following night.
Race
report from 10/9/10
Night Two of the Bud
Nationals
29 Super Late Models checked
in for the second night of the Bud Nationals at
Bakersfield Speedway.
Andy again pulled a middle of
the pack number for qualifying and managed a
respectable 12the place qualifying position.
Starting third in his heat
race he drove a smooth and consistent line and
finished second transferring to the main event.
A 12th place
starting spot was fine with Andy since this race
was 50 laps and he was confident that he had put a
setup on the car that would allow him to make a
late race charge. All was working as planned until
an another racer got overly aggressive on lap 41
and used Andy up to make it through a corner. Andy
broke the transmission shifter trying to get back
moving before losing a lap.
His night was over, and we
had another disappoint finish.
As always Andy and the whole
crew would like to thank Eric and Davenne Oldes
for all their help and support along with Con Fab
Corp. Snap On Tools, Dana Stahl Racing, Stietz
Sevice. Matts Performance, Joe Glade Racing, Hogge
Racing and the best looking pit crew Carly and
Jenn for all their help.
Check back soon for some new
pictures and news on a new modified that Andy will
be doing some development work on.
08/15/08
The new Merced Speedway
Andy decided late Sunday
Morning to take his Little Darlins, Steitz
Service, Con Fab, Matt’s Performance, Snap-On
Tools, Pacific Coast Battery, Victory Imca
Modified to the New Merced Speedway for an
afternoon of racing. Merced is a tight
high-banked quarter mile, not having time to
change gear ratio before the race Andy knew that
getting off the corner might be a disadvantage.
Starting 8th after a third place run in
his heat Andy managed to race up to fifth place.
Trying different lines to get the car to perform
he spun himself out on lap 12. After the restart,
he was moving through traffic fairly well when
another competitor ran out of talent and wrecked
him pretty bad. Oh well. Stuff happens.
Preparations on going on
this week to take the Super Late Model to Andy’s
favorite track, Bakersfield Speedway this
Saturday.
Thanks as always to everyone
who helps out……
08/13/10
Ocean Speedway
After what seems like a month
of fighting with electrical issues Andy was able
to take his Little Darlins, Steitz Service, Con
Fab, Matt’s Performance, Snap-On Tools, Pacific
Coast Battery, Victory Imca Modified from a 15 th
starting position to a nice 2nd place
finish. At the start of the race Andy felt he a
the car to beat, working through traffic he caught
the leader with about 3 laps to go…lapped traffic
play a role in the outcome when Andy was pinched
to the outside line and was never able to complete
the pass….well at least the car finished a whole
race…..Thanks to all that helped….
08/07/10
25 of the fastest Super Late
Models in California signed in at
Chris Kerns Santa Maria
Speedway.
Andy drew a low number and
was the first car out and qualified 10th the out
of the 25 other competitors. This was the first
race with our new all aluminum motor and as
expected there were a few little gremlins to deal
with. Matt worked his magic on the carb and
re-timed the motor and it seemed to have made a
big difference.
Andy started 7th
in the main event and was able to make some moves
to fifth but then started to have handling issues
and managed to come home in tenth place.
Andy and the crew have a bit
of work to do to get ready for the next race on
the 21st of August at his favorite race
track Bakersfield Speedway.
Once again Obertello Racing
would like to thank Eric and Davene Oldes of
Little Darlins Child Care, Rob Hoff of Snap-on
Tools,
Con Fab Corp of California,
Hogge Racing, Matt’s Performance and all of the
crew that help and support our racing efforts….
7-9-10
Friday
night brought us to Ocean Speedway where 28 IMCA
Modifieds checked in at the back Gate.
Andy started 2nd
row outside in his 7-car qualifying heat race.
Battling the 75x car for a couple of laps he was
able to pull away for the heat race win, with that
finish he was set to start third in the 4 Lap
Trophy Dash. The Trophy Dash was an exciting race,
with Andy able to pull out a Victory over the 03
car of Jim Pettit II. Starting fifth in the
feature Andy’s plan was to ride on the bottom of
the race track to let the race develop after a
couple of restarts the top 7 starters put on a
very entertaining race with position changes every
lap. Running fourth with 5 laps top go Andy moved
to the high side and was able to work that grove
to an impressive 2nd place finish
behind fellow Victory Chassis Drive Brian Cass.
06/26/2010
With no Super Late Model
Races on the schedule we decided to take the
Matt’s Performance, Snap-On Tools, Hogge Racing
Shocks, Little Darlins Day Care, Con-Fab Imca
Modified to Santa Maria Speedway.
We were greeted with an
outstanding 22-car field. After finishing 3rd in
his qualifying heat Andy started 12 in the main
event. Struggling with a very tight car he manage
to reach fifth place when slight contact with a
spinning car caused right front suspension damage.
After about ten more laps Andy decided to pull in
to the pits with a broken upper control arm giving
him a disappointing 16th place
finished.
As always Obertello Racing
would like to thank all our Sponsors and Crew for
their support.
06/11/2010
Ocean Speedway
Well, after trying to
quite the modify down, Andy was able to finish
second in his heat to start 10 overall in the main
event. 23 cars checked in for the weekly IMCA show
and the crowd was treated to some real clean
racing. Andy was moving up trough the field when
a gigantic rock/mudclod sneaked in and popped in
the face shield, surprised he lost control
momentarily and spun out. During the next 16 laps
he pick his way through the field to finish a
decent 11th place. The night had an
added bonus as Andy and the crew was able to rest
out some setup ideas that have been rolling around
in Andy’s head.
Thanks again to all of our
Sponsors and Crew…..Looks like the next race will
be with the Modified at either Santa Maria
Speedway on the 26th of June or Giant
Speedway on the same day.
Unfortunately, Family
obligations will force us to miss the Late Model
Race on June 19th.
06/05/2010
A spur of the moment idea
turned into a last minute decision to race at the
newly configured Giant Chevrolet Speedway in
Hanford, Ca with our Modified.
Only an eight-car field checked in for the 25 lap
$1000.00 to win race, but the quality of entrants
was exceptional. Andy finished 2nd in
his qualifying dash and 5 the in the main event.
After jumping the cushion on lap 11 he could just
not make up enough ground to improve his
position. The car was good; motor ran fine, might
need a different gear next time. Thanks to Scott
Woodhouse and all the crew at the track for their
hospitality.
6-4-10
Race
report from 05/29 and 05/30
30 of the fastest Super
Late Models in California signed in at Chris Kerns
Santa Maria Speedway.
Andy drew a very high
number and qualified late in the session in 14th
position. This resulted in a fourth place starting
position in the
Last of four heat races.
Needing a fourth or better finish to transfer
directly into Sunday’s 40 lap main event he did
just that after settling in behind 3rd
place stating John Lowery of Bakersfield.
Sunday A main brought a 16th
place starting spot and at the drop of the green
flag Andy started his usual march to the front,
unfortunately a car checked up and Andy suffered
some front end body damage and the car never
really handled well after that.
Andy finished all 40 laps
and managed a respectful 11th place
finish.
As always Obertello wishes
to send thanks out to all their sponsors whom
without their help we could do what we enjoy to
do.
Thanks ConFab.com, Eric
and Davene Oldes of Little Darlins Day Care, Rob
Hoff SnapOn Tools, Jennstar Motorsports, Dana
Stahl Racing, Port City Racing and of course the
pit crew Dave and Matt for all there help….
Next race will be
06/19/2010 Santa Maria Speedway…..
5-22-10
Bakersfield Speedway
05/15/10 12 Cars checked in for the Super Late
model portion of the speedways weekly series. Andy
clocked in at 13.626 third fast on the banked
oval. He finished third in the dash for cash, 3rd
in the qualifying heat race and fourth in the 30
lap main event. Not at all a bad showing for the
night. Andy and Ron used this race to try some new
combinations set up wise and they both were happy
with the results. Family obligations will keep the
car sidelined for this weekend, but the crew will
be preparing the car for the big $5000.00 to win
race at Santa Maria Speedway on Memorial day
weekend......Thanks go out to all the teams
sponsors, Confab.com, Little Darlins Day Care,
Jennstar Motorsports, Snapon Tools, and the
crew....without any of them we couldn't do what we
do......Thanks
5-13-10
With both Giant Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway
Racing on the same night the car count was split
between both tracks.
13 cars checked in, Andy qualified 6th over all,
finished 3rd in his heat and fifth in the main.
We're using a back-up motor so a fifth place
finish is ok since horse power is at a premium.
This week we're off to Bakersfield Speedway for
their 30 lap $1200.00 to win special. Weather is
warming up and we think the track will be on the
dryer side so our lack of horse power won't be
quite an issue, either way we'll go to win.
Hopefully our "big" motor should be done for the
next race......hopefully. Thanks again to
ConFab.com, Little Darlins Day Care, Snap-on
Tools, Dana Stahl Racing, Port City Racing, and
all the friends and family that continue to
support Obertello Racing.
5-5-10
Tulare 05/01/10
23 cars checked in for the West Coast Shootout at
the Tulare Thunderbowl. Unfortunately for the Con-Fab.com,
Little Darlins, Snapon Tools, Jennstar Motorsports
team the night ended before it had a chance to
start.
A rare motor failure ended the night, a broken
lifter was found after the pre-race engine warm-up
and the team decided it was too risky to try to
replace it at the track.
Next up our first visit to the Giant Speedway in
Hanford, Ca this Saturday 05/08/10. The backup
motor is going in tonight and if all goes well we
expect to run up front....Friday Andy will again
drive the Paul Salaiz, Clay Daly prepared Ocean
Late Model at Ocean Speedway.

Ocean Speedway 04/30/10
In a last minute decision Andy was asked to drive the Paul Salaiz Racing,
Clay Daly prepared GRT Crate Late Model last night
at The Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
After finishing second to Mark Cooper in his qualifying heat, he was
lined up in the sixth starting position for the
main event. At the drop of the green flag he fell
back to ninth place but was able tp make his way
to the front, after a restart on lap 14 he was
able to take the lead from Joel Hannagen and and
led the rest of way to beat a hard charging Bobby
Scott for his first Crate Late Model win of the
year.
Next Race is today, 05/01/10 for the West Coast
Shootout Race at The Tulare Thunderbowl in Tulare
Ca. The Con-Fab.com, Little Darlins, Snapon Tools,

model drivers in California.
4-24-2010
Bakersfield Speedway 04/24/10
22 Super Late models checked in for the third WCS
race of the year and were greeted with a very
muddy track. There were 3 heats races with the top
five going directly to the main event. Going out
6th Andy qualified 14th, starting him 6th in his
heat which he managed to finish in the last
transfer spot. After some minor changes he was
ready for the main. Starting 13th he was able to
charge into 6th before contact with a slowing car
caused him to pit. After reentering the track a
rear suspension part broke and he was done for the
night.
The whole Obertello Racing team would like to
thank Eric Oldes and Little Darlins' Child Care
for their continued support. Next race for the
Con-Fab.com. Little Darlins', Jennstar
Motorsports, Hogge Racing, Snap-on Tools, Victory
Circle will be May 1st At the Tulare Thunderbowl

track prep. heats were lined up via the pill draw.
In the heat race Andy took the Consolidated
Fabricators Corp., Little Darlins, Jennstar
Motorsports, Victory Circle Late Model to a second
place finish behind Clay Daly after starting 3rd.
Finishing 6th in the eight lap Trophy dash put him
on the outside of the 3rd row for the main. Andy
managed a 9th place finish after battling the
setup on the car and rough track conditions.

Andy battled gremlins in the modified all night
long at Ocean Speedway on Friday night and
finished a disappointing 18th after an early race
tangle. There was no major damage to the car but
he was unable to continue.
Andy and crew have repaired the damage and made
some minor changes to the setup for this week. We
are all excited to see if our luck has changed for
the better as he starts a rare two race weekend
Friday night at Ocean Speedway.
Saturday the crew will venture to Southern
California to race the Victory Circle,

season as a primary sponsor. We look forward to
representing them at dirt tracks all over the
Western United States.
